Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) successfully concluded the sale of a cutting-edge spy satellite to Singapore on Sunday. The transaction, which is estimated to be worth approximately 200 million dollars, marks a milestone in Israel's satellite export program.

Earlier today, the satellite, named "DS-SAR," was launched from India with resounding success. Unlike traditional camera-equipped satellites, this observation satellite is equipped with advanced radar technology, enabling it to gather crucial intelligence even in adverse weather conditions and during nighttime hours.

The satellite was launched at precisely 04:00 from a "PSLV C56" type launcher at the Indian launch site as per the original plan. After reaching its designated orbit around the Earth, it immediately began transmitting data and underwent a series of meticulous tests by the project's skilled engineers to ensure its reliability and peak performance.

The satellite will now embark on a planned series of in-orbit tests to further validate its capabilities. Following the completion of these tests, it will be delivered to Singapore's Ministry of Defense and the "ST Engineering" company, which commissioned the project.

The "DS-SAR" satellite sold to Singapore draws its foundation from the renowned "Ofek" series of spy satellites, which are exclusively developed by Israel Aerospace Industries for the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The crucial radar system integrated into the satellite is the result of the expertise and ingenuity of IAI's TAA's Alta plant, situated in Ashdod.

This contract marks yet another successful export of Israel's aerospace technology beyond its borders. Compared to other competing satellites, Israel's spy satellites are known for their compact size and cost-effectiveness, making them a highly sought-after choice for various international customers.

Aside from Singapore, these advanced spy satellites have already been sold to countries like India, Italy, and reportedly Azerbaijan, solidifying Israel's position as a formidable player in the global aerospace market.

The successful sale and launch of the "DS-SAR" satellite signify a triumph for Israel's aerospace industry and open up new avenues for future collaborations and partnerships in the realm of advanced satellite technology. As the world's demand for reliable and cutting-edge satellite capabilities continues to grow, Israel's role in this sector is likely to expand, bringing forth further opportunities for technological advancement and international cooperation.
