The average salary in Israel increased in April by 4.7% and amounted to NIS 12,622

The data of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) show that the average salary for an Israeli salaried position in April of this year was NIS 12,622, an increase of about 4.7% compared to April 2022 - similar to the inflation rate. Thus the average salary for a salaried position at constant prices (deducted by the price index to the monthly consumer) decreased by 0.2% relative to April of last year and stood at NIS 10,874.
In the high-tech industry, the average wage in April rose to 29,219 - an increase of 5.4% relative to April last year.
  According to the CBS estimate, which is based on partial data, the salary of Israeli workers reached NIS 12,349 in May, an increase of 5.4% compared to May 2022.
The number of jobs for Israeli workers in April was 3.942 million, a slight increase of only 0.8% compared to April 2022 and a decrease of 1.1% compared to March this year. The number of salaried jobs in the high-tech sector was 394.9 thousand, an increase of 2.6% compared to April 2022 (384.8 thousand) and a decrease of 0.6% compared to March 2023 (397.2 thousand). The salaried jobs in the high-tech sector were 10.0% of all the salaried jobs in the economy, similar to the month of March 2023.
The Central Bureau of Statistics explains that wage and employment index data are based on monthly reports by employers to the National Insurance Institute and these reports do not include workers receiving unemployment benefits. The calculation of the average wage for a salaried position does not refer to the number of days per month that the worker was employed.
