Dovdban unit soldier Sergeant Major (res.) Yehuda Gato, 22 years old, from Pardes Hana-Karkur, an operational driver, was killed today (Monday) by an explosive device in the Nur A. Shams refugee camp near Tulkarm. Another fighter was wounded. The tragedy happened during a counter-terrorism operation by the Menashe Brigade, in which shafts were breached and explosives were neutralized.
At the time of the explosion, there was a driver and a commander from the Dovdvan unit in the vehicle, the rest of the fighters unloaded before the explosion in favor of an operational foot mission. The Panther vehicle was standing in an area where there was no risk of explosives, and therefore it was also not exposed by Shufel or D9.
After the explosion, the fighters were evacuated for medical treatment, the operative driver was killed and the commander was seriously injured. During the activity, an unmanned aerial vehicle was fired at armed men in the area, the missile had fallen, several terrorists who arrived messed with the missile and it exploded, as a result, a Palestinian woman was killed.
In addition, forces from the Dovdevan unit eliminated a terrorist who tried to shoot at the forces. From the initial investigation it appears that the charge that was activated was apparently self-made and contained dozens of kilograms of explosive material. The charge was apparently placed in the upper part of the axle, the realization came after the damage done to the Panther vehicle.
