Elbit Systems, managed by Bezalel Machlis, won a $ 1.65 billion contract to build and operate a Greek Air Force flight training center as part of an agreement signed between the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the Greek Ministry of Defense.
As part of the contract, which will be executed in the next 20 years, the company will provide new M-346 (Lavi) training aircraft and will strengthen the entire training squadron array, consisting of dozens of M-346 and T-6 (Efroni) training aircraft.

Elbit Systems will also provide an innovative layered training avionics to be installed on the training aircraft, will provide flight-linked simulators, and an array of ground training stations as well as command and control systems to enable effective management of flight training activities.
Elbit Systems won the contract after beating the Canadian company CAE, which specializes in training and competed with Elbit Systems in the UK as well. Apparently, Elbit won because of the company's ongoing experience with the Israeli Air Force; The fact that unlike the Canadian competitor, Elbit Systems has experience in operating an M-346 aircraft; And the company's successful experience with the British Air Force in a similar project was expanded in 2020, when the British Air Force added four more T-6s to the flight school.
The company's winning the contract was also aided by the innovative simulation technologies it developed on the ground and in the cockpit systems - including avionics systems in the cockpit, which can simulate situations during the flight, including transmitting enemy state data to the helmet mirror.
Lavit Systems has been operating the British Air Force Flight School since 2016, in equal partnership with KBR, where it trains cadets on three types of aircraft designed for different levels of flight: T-6, BeechCraft and Embraer's Phenom 300E .
The scope of the contract for the British school is $ 713 million for 18 years, and in addition to the regular cash flow it provides to the company, it strengthens Elbit Systems' ties with the British Army and improves its chances of negotiating similar contracts, such as the Greek Air Force contract. Won the supply of simulation systems to the British Navy Submarine School.
Elbit Systems also provides operation and maintenance services for three types of Israeli Air Force training aircraft: T-6 aircraft, after winning a $ 38 million 5-year contract in June 2020; M-346, manufactured by the Italian company Leonardo and GROB G-120 A (Swallow).
