Public Transportation Continues in Emergency Mode: Reduced Rail and Bus Services

In light of the continuing state of emergency, public transportation across Israel will operate today (Sunday) in a reduced and emergency-focused format, prioritizing essential travel to hospitals, military bases, and evacuation points.


Israel Railways Operating Only Three Emergency Lines

Israel Railways announced it will operate in emergency mode with limited service on the following three lines:

  • Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon – Ben Gurion Airport – Herzliya

  • Beersheba – Tel Aviv – Nahariya

  • Ashkelon – Tel Aviv – Herzliya

All trains will make stops at intermediate stations as usual. Service is focused on enabling movement for essential personnel and emergency operations.


Railway Supports War Effort with Special Trains and Emergency Readiness

Since the outbreak of the war, Israel Railways has been operating at increased alert status to support the national war effort:

  • 8 special trains were launched to disperse stranded passengers at Ben Gurion Airport after flight cancellations.

  • 2 emergency trains were prepared for the evacuation of wounded individuals.

  • Trains are stationed strategically in Ben Gurion Airport, Jerusalem, Beersheba, and Haifa to assist in transporting reserve soldiers.

  • Preparations are also underway for the evacuation of waste from central cities to the north on request by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.


Bus Services Also Reduced, Focused on Essential Lines

Bus companies across Israel will continue to operate in limited capacity, with service focused on critical routes:

  • Egged:
    Will operate essential lines to military bases and hospitals only. Passengers can check updated information via:

  • Superbus:
    Announced limited operations in the following areas:

    • Emekim

    • Tiberias

    • Afula

    • Haifa metro

    Note: All Superbus service centers are closed due to restrictions on public gatherings. Passengers can call *4505 or *2162 for up-to-date schedule information.


Public Urged to Limit Travel and Stay Updated

Authorities are urging the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to use public transport only when essential. Citizens are encouraged to remain close to protected areas and adhere to Home Front Command guidelines.
