The Home Front Command announced on Wednesday a partial easing of defense restrictions across most of the country, allowing a limited return to routine activities amid ongoing security concerns. The updated guidelines provide greater flexibility for workplaces and educational institutions, provided they have access to protected spaces.
Under the new directives, workplaces may now operate if there is a nearby protected space that can be accessed quickly during an emergency. Additionally, gatherings of up to 30 people are now permitted in most regions, again contingent on the presence of an accessible shelter.
Educational Institutions: Limited Activities Approved
While the general ban on regular educational activities remains in place, the Ministry of Education has secured approval for certain end-of-year school functions. According to the guidelines:
-
School principals are authorized to distribute end-of-year certificates.
-
Activities can be held in protected spaces within school premises.
-
Up to 30 students with two staff members are allowed per group.
-
A maximum of four classes may hold activities simultaneously.
This move aims to provide students with a safe environment to mark the end of the academic year without compromising their safety.
Regional Variations in Gathering Limits
In specific regions—including the Golan Heights, northern confrontation line areas, Beit Shean Valley, the Dead Sea, Arava, Eilat, and the Gaza periphery—restrictions have been relaxed further. In these areas:
-
Open-air gatherings of up to 50 people are permitted.
-
Indoor gatherings in buildings with nearby protected spaces are allowed for up to 100 people.
These guidelines reflect a region-based approach tailored to local threat assessments and the availability of protective infrastructure.
Beaches Remain Closed
Despite the easing of some restrictions, beaches across the country remain closed to swimming due to ongoing security risks. The public is urged to follow all safety guidelines issued by the Home Front Command and to remain vigilant.
Authorities will continue to assess the situation and adjust guidelines accordingly.
