Matthias Korman, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), arrived at a cabinet meeting in Jerusalem today and presented a presentation to the Prime Minister and government ministers on the impact of the corona on the Israeli economy.
In the presentation, data were presented to the ministers, according to which the increase in employment in the past year was higher than the average of the other OECD countries.

So while the employment rate for ages 25-64 in Israel is about 75%, the average in the member states of the organization is about 70%.
According to the organization, the Israeli economy recovered quickly from the shock that gripped it following the outbreak of the corona virus. The public debt ratio in Israel according to the presentation is also low compared to the other member states of the organization. So while the Israeli public debt ratio is about 65% of GDP. As for the member states of the organization, the average is 125% of GDP.
Korman also referred to the education system in Israel and the presentation states that reducing the gaps in educational results will increase equality of opportunity, while the average score of Hebrew speakers in mathematics and PISA camps is 500, of Arabic speakers only 350.
Another figure presented to the ministers concerns progress in the standard of living in Israel according to GDP, which stands at 94 out of 100.
An interesting statistic that can be found in the presentation examines the effectiveness and speed of the corona vaccination campaign. While in Israel about 60% of the population is vaccinated (as of January). In the rest of the OECD countries, the figure is 70%. In other words - an unflattering statistic, certainly when one considers the fact that Israel was the first country in the world to vaccinate its citizens.
