It seems that the economy is emerging from the corona crisis, but it seems that many low-wage earners have not yet returned to work, and as a result, the average wage in Israel for Israeli workers soared to a peak of NIS 12,740 in March.
This is an increase of 5.5% compared to February, when the average salary was NIS 12,079. Even the wages of foreign workers soared to NIS 7,045, an increase of more than 10% compared to the previous month, when their wages were only NIS 6,316.

From data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), it can be learned that the preference of quite a few workers to receive unemployment benefits over their return to work, caused employers to raise wages for some of their employees.
The rise in wages compared to the pre-Corona crisis is much higher. The average wage of Israeli workers rose by no less than 17.1% in March 2021 compared to March 2020.
The average wage in Israel, for both Israeli and foreign workers, was NIS 12,326 in March 2021, compared with NIS 11,654 in February. The wage and employment data published today by the CBS do not include the wages of employees who are on unpaid leave and receive unemployment benefits from the National Insurance Institute.
In employee jobs, there was actually a 5.2% increase in March 2021 compared to February, when the economy has not yet returned to full activity. In March, the aviation, foreign tourism, cinemas and other industries were almost completely shut down, some of which returned to only partial activity.
The industry that tops the ranking is information and communications with an average high salary of NIS 28,594 gross per month. It is followed by employees of the financial services and insurance with NIS 23,985 and employees of professional, scientific and technical services with a salary of NIS 21,025. The electricity and water industries, which for years topped the average wage table, dropped to fourth place with an average wage in March of NIS 19,125 gross per month.
At the bottom of the salary table are employees of accommodation and food services (hotels, restaurants, cafes), with a salary of only NIS 5,682, very close to the minimum wage of NIS 5,300 per month. In front of them are various service workers with an average salary of NIS 6,174, employees of management and support services - NIS 6,775 and workers in the arts, entertainment and leisure industry (excluding the artists) with an average monthly salary of NIS 7,152.
The high-tech field is presented separately in the CBS report, according to which the average salary of about 52,000 scientific research and development workers in high-tech was in March an average of NIS 47,747 gross per month. The high-tech industry reached NIS 31,525, more than the leading industry in all non-high-tech fields.
