The senior academic staff at seven public academic colleges stopped his five-week strike. The strike was halted following agreements reached with the assistance of the president of the Jerusalem Regional Labor Court.
The studies will be renewed at Sapir College, Hadassah, Holon Institute of Technology, Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College, Azrieli College of Engineering, Ruppin Academic Center and the Kinneret Academic College.
In recent days, the Labor Court has discussed the crisis in various courts, and all of them have accepted the position that this is a dispute that must be resolved in negotiations between the college administration and its staff organization.
The agreement reached determines that the contacts will be conducted in each of the colleges that were shut down, with the aim of bridging the differences of opinion and reaching a collective agreement soon.
Eight out of 22 public colleges around the country took part in the strike, but at the beginning of the week the strike ended at the Lev Academic Center in Jerusalem, after the institution's management reached an arrangement with the lecturers.
The strike of the senior staff began in light of differences of opinion with the Ministry of Finance and the colleges. While the Ministry of Finance and the Committee of College Heads claimed that the senior faculty members of the colleges that had been withdrawn withdrew from the agreement of principles signed with them in October 2017, the faculty representatives claimed that the agreements presented to them by the colleges ultimately did not match the understandings and summaries.
Four main points were the basis of the dispute over the final agreements: the date of application of the new salary tables, the calculation of the seniority of the new lecturers, the occupational security of the lecturers and the definition of conditions for breaking the "industrial quiet"
