Disruption days: 500 thousand Demonstrators Sweep Across Israel against the legal reform

Masses of protesters took to the streets across Israel on Saturday evening in dozens of locations as part of a "Night of Resistance" organized by protest leaders. The protesters told our reporter that half a million people stormed the streets in Jerusalem and all over the country. The demonstrations were in response to the proposed legislation being promoted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, which has sparked widespread opposition and concerns over potential threats to Israeli democracy.

In Tel Aviv, over 100 thousand protesters held a protest march in the city center, leading to the blockade of Kaplan Street from Leonardo Da Vinci Street to Menachem Begin Road, along with the Kaplan intersection with Menachem Begin Road in both directions.

Throughout the evening and night, major roads in different parts of the country were disrupted by demonstrators. The Ayalon North road was blocked to traffic as protesters descended on the road and set a bonfire on the spot. The police later forcefully removed the protesters after an hour and a half of blockades, leading to some clashes between officers and demonstrators.

The demonstrations in various cities, including Ra'anana, Ramat Hasharon, and Haifa, also resulted in traffic disruptions, with intersections blocked for several hours before being cleared by the police.

The "Night of Resistance" was declared by the protest organizers as a response to what they see as the government's rush to pass potentially "dictatorial legislation," following criticism from the President of the United States, who called for an immediate halt to such reforms.

Protesters expressed concern about the potential erosion of Israeli democracy and the fear that unlimited government power could lead to a less equal society, where some are above the law while others are subject to it.
