A number of companies in the economy have joined the "Women's strike - women and girls are not no man's land" event, which is scheduled to take place the next day (Sunday) at 12:00. This follows demonstrations all ove r the country following the incident in Eilat, in which about 30 men allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl at a hotel. As part of the event of identification with the victims of sexual assault, the resident is currently working.
Among the companies that announced that they would participate in the event: Psagot Investment House, which said that "its employees were shocked to hear about the recent rape case in Eilat, which unfortunately joins many more, too many cases of violence.
The workers will join the organized protest, and will shout - "Enough violence against women."
The Carasso Motors Group, which said that "about 1,800 employees of the company will stop working and go to the public space for a silence strike in support of the women's protest against violence against women and in favor of aggravating punishment." Adi Malka, the group's VP of Human Resources, said that "the events of the last few days have left us shocked, as a group of companies we place an emphasis on values ​​and morals and therefore we have decided to take an active part in the women's strike."
IAI, whose committee chairman Yair Katz posted on Facebook: "This coming Sunday we are all wearing red shirts! At 12:00, we will go to public spaces throughout society (while maintaining the rules of the purple character) as a sign of solidarity with the justified struggle against the shocking rape case and violence against women in general. "
AIG Israel, which has announced that it will donate NIS 50,000 to the Sexual Assault Victims Assistance Center in Tel and calls on other companies to join. CEO Yifat Reiter: "The business sector cannot stand aside. "This struggle requires financial resources to support the victims of sexual assault, and also to promote lesson plans in the schools in which we will educate the boys and girls of all of us what a respectful and empathetic egalitarian relationship is."
A police investigation opened this week revealed that the girl traveled to the southern city with her friend, where they met acquaintances of the latter. They drank alcohol and at one point the girl went to the bathroom in one of the hotel rooms. There, she claims, she was raped. Due to the large number of suspects, a special investigation team was set up in the police in an attempt to locate them. For now, two suspects have been arrested. Following the incident, many demonstrations of sympathy were held throughout the country with the girl and with victims of sexual assault in general. So far, three suspects in the affair have been arrested.
The publication of the affair led to angry reactions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on Twitter: "This morning, my wife Sarah and I read about the rape affair in Eilat as published. It is shocking, there is no other word. It is not just a crime against the girl, it is a crime against humanity itself worthy of all condemnation and those responsible should be brought to justice. to him".
Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz wrote: "I want to understand, and fail - what is trying to prove a man standing in a crowded queue with dozens of people on the way to a room where a young and vague girl is lying?
