A year and three months after he began serving his three years in prison, businessman and former IDB chairman Nochi Dankner is set to go free. This morning, a person who was previously considered the most powerful man in the economy and jailed for securities law offenses At the gate of a prison jail, a prisoner behind bars became a non-suspended prisoner.
This, after last Thursday's release from the Ma'asiyahu Prison, approved his request for early release. The decision by the parole committee to order Dankner's release was made after the State Attorney's Office, through Attorney Gabi Farr, announced at the opening of the hearing that it did not oppose his early release. Among other reasons, the State offered to the parole committee to support Dankner's early release, Donner's contribution And its clean past, and of course the fact that he was granted the president's pardon in light of his deteriorating medical condition.
"I acted recklessly," Dankner told the committee, "and contrary to the way I drove up to that bitter, bitter day. My whole life I was a law-abiding, honest and honest man."
In its decision, the parole committee stated that it had concluded that Dankner should be released in light of the following reasoning consistent with the provisions of the law: The release of the prisoner does not endanger public peace; His positive behavior during his imprisonment; Her treatment program between the prison walls was real and weighty; And the follow-up program to which the prisoner is bound to have continued care and rehabilitation.
Dankner's prior release was subject, inter alia, to the following conditions: He must report to the police once every two weeks until the end of his probationary period of release (8.5.2021), to comply with all conditions stipulated in the rehabilitation program, and to remain in house detention for a day. From 10pm to 6am the next day. In addition, Dankner was charged with a delay in leaving the country.
Nackner, who was convicted of a stock-carrying offense in the 2012 IPO and dubbed the "Membership Issue," received two weeks ago with significant relief from his sentence from state President Reuben (Ruby) Rivlin. Due to his deteriorating medical condition, Rivlin agreed to accept the pardon application he filed as early as February 2019, converting four months of sentencing to Dankner sentenced to probation. In doing so, the president paved the way for Dankner to stand before the parole committee. Rivlin rejected Dankner's request to delete his criminal record.
President Rivlin's decision on the matter was delayed because of an investigation against Dankner that was opened (and later closed), because of a complaint he filed against Dankner with one of the prisoners he was in prison with, and for which Dankner was temporarily transferred to a guard division at Nitzan Prison. As mentioned, the same investigation was recently closed. The nature of the suspicions and the details of the investigation are still subject to a prohibition order.
