The Election Committee of the Bar Association announced that Adv. Amit Bachar won the elections for the Bar Association's presidency and will be the chairman of the bar. The results of the elections show that Bachar won 73% of the support, while the main contender against him, the former head of the bureau Efi Neve, received 19% of the voters' votes.

The results also revealed that Bacher also won the majority in the national council of the bar, which elects the two representatives of the bar in the committee for selecting judges. The voter turnout in the elections was 50.8%, compared to about 30% in the three previous sets of elections.
Bacher's list - including Bacher as chairman - received 18 mandates out of the 28 mandates that can be elected in the National Council. This means that together with the representatives of the other lists that support Bacher, including a representative of the list "for a worthy purpose", three representatives of the Arab lawyers' faction "through honor and the quality of the profession" as well as representatives from the various districts, Bacher will be able to form a coalition in the national council and manage the bureau without significant opposition in the council. Noah's list, on the other hand, received five seats in the national council.
The council, the body that determines the bureau's policy and budget, has 44 representatives and includes the chairman of the bureau who was elected today, as well as the state attorney, the chief military attorney and the director general of the Ministry of Justice - who are not up for election. 28 additional members are elected directly from among 18 lists that run for the council. The composition of the council is completed by two representatives of each of the six districts in the Chamber, the chairman of each district and another representative.
The chairman of the state camp, Benny Gantz, today congratulated Bacher on his victory and added that the Bar Association "has an important role in maintaining the independence and strength of the legal system in Israel, and especially at this time, I am sure that Amit will lead it in the right and responsible way." MK Gideon Sa'ar added Because Bacher "faced an ugly and negative campaign against him, he did not back down and gave his answer at the ballot box. The clear election results alongside the impressive turnout are an overwhelming moral answer to the regime revolution and evidence of the depth of public opposition to it."
"The results of the elections for the head of the Bar Association are an overwhelming victory of the democratic majority in Israel over the dictatorial coup coalition," the headquarters of the protest against the coup d'état said. "The lawyers flock to the polling stations to send a clear message to the government - we will not allow you to destroy the State of Israel."
Noah, a private lawyer who was recently convicted of crimes and is also suspected of having worked for the appointment of Etti Kharif as a judge in exchange for a sexual bribe, is identified with the right side of the political map and enjoys the support of the coalition. He was convicted of fraudulently obtaining something after leaving Israel and returning to it illegally with his partner, in order to avoid documenting their joint trip abroad. During his tenure as chairman of the bar, Neve broke a years-long alliance between the representatives of the Bar Association and the judges of the Supreme Court on the Committee for the Selection of Judges, and made an alliance With the Minister of Justice at the time, Ayelet Shaked, in a way that allowed her to promote conservative judges to the Supreme Court.
Bacher worked for years at the Tel Aviv Taxation and Economy District Attorney's Office, which is handling the prosecution in the trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Today he is a prominent activist in the protest against the coup d'état. The protest organizations rallied to help him win, and he won the support of senior opposition figures. Besides Bacher and Noah, the lawyer Arkady Aligulashvili and the chairman of the bar association who preceded Noah, Doron Barzilai, competed for the headship of the bar.
