A tragic terrorist attack: On Montefiore Street in Tel Aviv on Saturday afternoon unfolded a tragic incident when Chen Amir, a 42-year-old municipal security patrol officer (SLA), was mortally wounded in a shooting attack. The assailant, identified as Kamal Abu-Bakar, 22, opened fire on Chen and his patrol friend after arousing their suspicion.

Chen Amir, a resident of Bat Yam and originally from Kibbutz Re'im in the Eshkol region, displayed tremendous courage during the incident. Despite being critically injured, he was rushed to Ichilov Hospital while receiving CPR. Tragically, the medical team was unable to save him, and he succumbed to his wounds.

Chen Amir's parents, who still reside in Kibbutz Re'im, have been receiving support from welfare personnel since learning about their son's untimely demise. His unit mates, who had served alongside him, gathered at the hospital to mourn their fallen comrade.

Ichilov Hospital reported that Chen Amir leaves behind a wife and three daughters. He valiantly sacrificed himself to prevent a major attack, saving numerous lives in the process. In an act of generosity and compassion, his family decided to donate his organs to help save others.

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai expressed his heartfelt condolences to Chen's family and assured them of the municipality's unwavering support during this difficult time. He praised Chen Amir's vigilance, bravery, and commitment to duty, vowing that his memory will never be forgotten.

The patrolman who neutralized the terrorist, bravely recounting the incident, explained how he and his partner spotted the suspicious individual and approached him on their motorcycles. When the suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting, Chen Amir courageously confronted him. He managed to neutralize the attacker, preventing further harm to civilians.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant hailed the actions of the municipal security patrol for their vigilance and quick response, thwarting a potentially more devastating attack. They both pledged to hold those who seek harm to the citizens of Israel accountable.

Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai confirmed that the terrorist had expressed a willingness to sacrifice himself and stated that the investigation was ongoing to determine if he had accomplices.

As the nation mourns the loss of Chen Amir, he is remembered as a true hero who selflessly put others before himself. His bravery and ultimate sacrifice will forever be etched in the memory of the people he protected, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
