The hacker group Pay2Key, which is suspected to be linked to Iran, released a database on Sunday evening that it said was stolen from the computers of IAI's Elta Division. The aerospace industry said the issue was under investigation.
At least some of the names on the list do belong to Elta employees. For example, one employee whose name appeared on the list even appeared before a committee in the Knesset and whose name was published in the minutes of the same committee that is available on the Internet.

The Iranian hacker group has already revealed last week that it has managed to break into the Banana Labs computers, which were acquired by Intel. The hackers published a number of databases and examples of files that were allegedly stolen from the company's computers. Among other things, there were diagrams of the company's chips, Gaudi and Goya, which constitute the bulk of its spiritual assets.
It is not clear to what extent the hackers managed to infiltrate Elta, but there is no escaping the assessment that they may have reached the heart of the corporate network of one of IAI's sensitive divisions. Elta Systems is a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries, and one of the world's leading companies in military electronic systems in the field of radar, communications and electronic warfare. The name ELTA is an acronym for "Aerospace Electronics".
The intrusion of hostile elements into its computer network poses a serious risk to state security. However, it is important to emphasize that so far there is no evidence that the hackers have confidential or sensitive data. This intrusion is against the background of last week's intrusion by Russian hackers into the computers of a significant part of the US government's computer network using unique damage introduced through a SolarWinds software platform used by many organizations around the world. This platform is also used by quite a few government organizations in Israel.
However, it is important to note that the damage of the Pay2Key hacker group is not as sophisticated as that used by the Russian hackers. However she is dangerous enough for their threats to be taken seriously. The hackers have been announcing for several days that they intend to disseminate information stolen from the aerospace industry, and today is probably doomsday. According to their pattern of action, they will probably try to sell the information back to the aerospace industry, and if the negotiations fail, they could very well try their luck in the free market.
The hacker group Pay2Key is apparently not linked to the Iranian government, according to estimates by senior cyber elements in Israel, but at least it is a group that operates from Iran or speaks Persian. According to estimates, these are a group of cybercriminals whose main activity concerns making money and not necessarily espionage or strategic activity.
