Significant increase in the number of respirators: According to data from the Ministry of Health, the number of corona patients in hospitals increased by 12 in half a day and reached 118, the most since the end of April, at the height of the first wave. The peak number of respirators was on April 13, when 137 corona patients who were connected to respirators were hospitalized in hospitals across the country.
This is a sharp jump in the number of respirators in recent weeks. According to the data on July 1 there were 24 respirators, on August 1 the number jumped to 94 and this morning it reached 118. This is a 25% increase in the number of respirators within nine days. The number of seriously ill patients dropped slightly to 394.
But not only has the number of respirators increased alarmingly this month, but also the number of deaths from virus complications, which has risen to 577 from the outbreak of the plague. Since the beginning of the month, 80 corona patients have died in Israel - one of them today. At the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, we were informed that two women, aged 95 and 97, who came from institutions in Hadera and the surrounding area, died this weekend.
From the outbreak of the plague, 82,515 infections were diagnosed in Israel, of which 24,433 are active corona patients. 859 of them are hospitalized in hospitals across the country. This is a record number in the second wave. According to data from the Ministry of Health, occupancy in the corona ward at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital is 194%, in Ichlov 124%, in Shaare Zedek 120% and in Sheba 114%. At Assaf Harofeh, Kaplan and Wolfson hospitals, occupancy is approaching 100% in the corona wards.
The number of diagnoses yesterday was relatively low, 763 infected, but the reason is the steady decline in the number of tests on Saturday. A total of only 8,587 test results were received yesterday, and the rate of positive tests among the initial tests remained high - 9.4%.
According to a report by the National Information and Knowledge Center, all the main risk centers are ultra-Orthodox localities - Bnei Brak, Modi'in Illit, Elad and Beit Shemesh.
Over the weekend, corona projector Prof. Roni Gamzo presented his plan to fight the corona virus, saying that the main goal the health system is aiming for is to reduce the incidence of the disease to hundreds of infected people by September. Prof. Gamzo explained that "Israel is currently suffering from high corona morbidity. This is the highest mental illness in the world, which means that over time it is impossible to continue like this."
According to the plan presented by Gamzo, "Magen Israel", the use of closures to reduce morbidity will be postponed, and the need for it will be re-examined in about two weeks. Restrictions will also be lifted on businesses during the weekends, and on stays at public playgrounds. In addition, in accordance with Prof. Gamzo's recommendation, the Corona Cabinet authorized the Ministers of Health, Foreign Affairs and Transportation, together with the National Security Council, to promote the "Blue Character" outline for the opening of the sky on 16 August.
The plan also includes a new policy for red and orange cities, according to which a comprehensive support system will be established for the populations in these localities, while ensuring family cell isolation, enforcing restrictions on gatherings, restrictions on the education system and increasing HMO assistance. According to Magen Israel, from September 1, the "Traffic Light" program will come into operation, regulating a uniform procedure for city activity, depending on the morbidity of each authority. The "traffic light" program includes five levels: normal activity, extended activity, limited activity, limited activity and prohibited activity.
The "Hutsot Hamifratz" shopping center, one of the largest open spaces in the Haifa metropolitan area, was already alive before noon. The vast majority of the shops were open, and stalls were set up along the main boulevard. The stalls operate almost exclusively on weekends and have been closed in recent weeks.
"I've been here for a month and a half, and out of them I couldn't open for three Saturdays," said Rudy Kassos from Haifa, owner of the Liam Jewelry stand. He previously operated a jewelry store in Kedem Square in Jaffa, but on March 15 was forced to close it due to the plague.
