The nurses' strike that began today (Monday) is about to end. In a meeting held tonight between Finance Minister Israel Katz and the chairman of the Nurses' Federation, Ilana Cohen, an outline was agreed for ending the strike.
And these are the agreements:
1. An additional 2,000 temporary standards for nurses and 400 for physicians
Within three days, a joint team will be set up to make recommendations and conclusions within a month (until August 25) and make a decision - on the scope of the additional additional standard required and the way and date of implementation.
3. The issue of nurses will come up first in the budget discussions between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health.
Arranging the capsules (groups) to protect the nurses in the required departments (under the responsibility of the person in charge of salaries in the Ministry of Finance).
5. Arranging an incentive for nurses in the south (under the responsibility of the payroll supervisor).
One hundred security guards in sensitive areas will be staffed.
7. The agreement will include a mechanism that will make sure that the standards in the hospitals reach their destination. At the same time, the payroll commissioner will prepare an answer regarding nurses who are in solitary confinement.
It should be emphasized that some of the standards mentioned in section 1 (2,000 temporary standards for nurses and 400 doctors) will come at the expense of doctors and nurses who will retire in about a year, so the numerical manpower addition to the health system is unclear at this stage. In addition, benefits will be provided on terms to 700 administrative and farm employees in the Corona departments.
Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said: "The health system has been starved for years. Together with my friend, Finance Minister Israel Katz, we worked to quickly correct the depth problems created in the system and significantly strengthen the treatment of Corona. I am glad we were able to quickly achieve the best possible result.
"A system that has longed for budgets and standards gets the oxygen it so desperately needs. A neglected system gets the attention it deserves. It is not the end, but it is a good start to strengthening the medical system in Israel that is recognized as a place of national priority. And to the nurses: an end to neglect and a new page of investment that will move the health system forward. "
Finance Minister Israel Katz said: "We are in a health emergency so I acted quickly to bring about a quick solution to enable the Ministry of Health to deal with the many challenges it faces during this period. There is no doctor available and no nurse available who will not be able to work during this period."
Minister Katz added: "I appreciate the medical staff, the doctors and nurses and the nurses and all the members of the health system for the great dedication and the sacred work they do. This solution will lead to more efficient work and help the medical staff and citizens of the country."
Dr. Zeev Feldman, chairman of the State Physicians' Association and director of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Unit at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, also welcomed the program:
Dr. Feldman estimated that "if the budget barrier is breached, it will allow immediate a

bsorption of physicians who will strengthen the entire system. However, the deficits of the hospitals created in the first wave must not be ignored and must be covered immediately. "
Meanwhile, the nurses clarified that they do not know the details of the summary and that in fact, the announcement about him was published without the knowledge of the Histadrut Brothers and Sisters and only then was the Histadrut chairman, Ilana Cohen, summoned to a meeting with Minister Katz in Jerusalem.

The Nurses' Federation has announced yesterday a general strike by the workers unionized in it in the hospitals, in the general and unified health funds, in the student health services and the milk drops. This, in protest of the workload on the workers and the shortage of manpower in the background of the struggle in Corona, and after a nightly meeting of the Histadrut chairman, other representatives and the director general of the Ministry of Finance ended without results. The strike began at seven in the morning.
The brothers 'and nurses' strike will include these bodies: all the hospitals, Clalit Health Services, the United Health Insurance Fund, the student health services and the milk drops. The work in the hospitals will be on a Saturday basis, but the corona departments will be fully staffed and corona tests will be performed.
The chairman of the nurses Federation, Ilana Cohen, said this morning that the decision was made "with a heavy heart." She said, The collapse of the health care system that will reach the peak of the epidemic in a few months this coming winter. We are going on strike today with a heavy heart, but with a real understanding that it will save a heavy price in human life in a few months. The cry of the brothers and sisters this morning is the cry of all the citizens of Israel. "
Cohen and other representatives met last night again with the director general of the Ministry of Finance, the Turner-Eyal Foundation, and members of the budget department, in an attempt to prevent the strike expected today. The meeting continued into the night, but ended without results.
The nurses are protesting the shortage of manpower and workloads. Cohen said a quick solution to the shortage of standards should be given, given the transfer of a thousand brothers and sisters to isolation, and the allocation of an additional 1,500 in favor of the corona wards at the expense of other wards. "Enough with the excuses and enough with the talk - we need to give an immediate solution today and stop allowing the abandonment of patients and brothers and sisters. The health care system cannot deteriorate," she said.
Cohen argued that the problem lay in the approach taken by the Treasury. According to her, "Finance officials must change their perception and immediately stop the abandonment of the brothers and sisters, the abandonment of the health of the treating staff and the abandonment of the patients - Israeli citizens."
According to her, the main goal behind the nurses' demands is to improve the level of care for the citizen. "It is our duty to provide the citizens of Israel with adequate care. It is our right to do so with the proper manpower that is safe from violence and contagion. Human life will not be wasted."
Meanwhile, the strike of social workers continues. Economy Minister Amir Peretz says the strikes are justified and a way must be found for the plight of nurses and social workers. According to him, the key is in the Ministry of Finance.
