Air Haifa, Israel's newest airline, announced on Wednesday that it has received its operational license from the Ministry of Transport and has officially begun selling tickets on its website, airhaifa.com.
With the necessary approvals in place, the airline is ready to start commercial flights as early as Monday, September 30, 2024, with two daily flights from Tel Aviv to Eilat, offering an introductory fare of just 99 shekels each way.
Flights from Haifa to Cyprus Set to Begin in October
Following Yom Kippur, Air Haifa plans to begin operating flights from its home base at Haifa Airport. The first Haifa-Eilat flight is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, followed by the Haifa-Cyprus route, which will start on Monday, October 14. Ticket prices from Haifa to Eilat are set at 139 shekels one way, while flights to Cyprus will cost $64 one way.
Flexible Booking and Competitive Prices
Air Haifa offers flexible booking options, allowing passengers to cancel or reschedule their flights (for credit toward future bookings) up to 24 hours before departure. Basic fares include a small bag that fits under the seat, with options to add extras like trolleys, checked luggage, and seat selection for an additional fee.
The airline will begin operations with two ATR 72-600 aircraft, each with 72 seats, and plans to expand its fleet in the coming months.
CEO Gonen Osishkin Thanks Key Supporters
Air Haifa’s co-founder and CEO, Gonen Osishkin, expressed gratitude to Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, Civil Aviation Authority Director Shmuel Zakai, and other officials for their support. Osishkin highlighted the airline's potential to improve connectivity between northern Israel, Eilat, and other Mediterranean destinations, despite current challenges.
