Teva is stepping up the pace of arrangements to resolve lawsuits hovering over its head regarding its involvement in the narcotics (opioid) painkiller affair, which has resulted in the deaths of 500,000 Americans in the past 20 years.
Teva, which is managed by Kor Schultz, has reached an agreement with the Attorney General of the State of Florida and all the arms of the administration, which will settle all the lawsuits filed by the administration against Teva in the opioid case.

Under the arrangement, Teva will pay Florida $ 177 million over 15 years, and will provide Florida with the generic spray Narcan, or Naloxone, for the treatment of overdose symptoms of narcotic painkillers - such as respiratory failure and unresponsiveness of the patient - recently launched in the US market, worth $ 84 $ 1 million (at list prices) over the next 10 years. The settlement was reached without drowning thanks for any offense.
The agreement with Florida was signed just 8 days after Teva signed an agreement with the Rhode Island Attorney General to an agreement under which Teva will pay Rhode Island $ 21 million in cash over the next 13 years, providing the state with the Narcan spray and the generic version of the Suboxone tablet for free. , Which is also based on the same active ingredient as the spray and is intended for the same indication. Teva will supply a "significant amount" of the drugs worth $ 78.5 million (at list prices) over the next 10 years. The agreement will terminate by compromise, and without Teva assuming responsibility or gratitude in any criminal act, the claims filed against the company by the Attorney General of the State of Rhode Island and other bodies of the state.
The lawsuits of Rhode Island and government departments have been filed alongside 3,300 other lawsuits filed against the company and other opioid manufacturers and distributors, claiming the manufacturers' aggressive marketing policies diminished the risk of painkiller addiction and tried to extend their use beyond their original purpose.
The agreement with Rhode Island was signed six weeks after Teva signed a similar agreement with the state of Texas, under which it will pay $ 150 million in cash to the state over 15 years, and will provide the Narcan spray worth $ 75 million (according to the wholesale price list price) over 10 years. The number of Texas residents is 26 times greater than the number of Rhode Islanders, so in relative terms the scope of the agreement with Rhode Island ($ 100 million) is significantly higher than the agreement with Texas ($ 225 million).
