Municipal employees in Kfar Saba who are interested in continuing to work even after the statutory retirement age will be able to do so until the age of 70 with automatic approval. Subject to the recommendation of the direct manager and the decision of the Human Resources Committee. According to a new initiative by incoming mayor Rafi Sa'ar.
Mayor Sa'ar's decision does not cancel the first two stages of the recommendation of the direct manager and the approval of the human resources committee, but the novelty is that once these two stages are completed, the mayor's approval to continue employing the employee is automatic. Municipal employees who have crossed the age of 70 and are interested in continuing to work must also receive the approval of the municipal council, beyond the first two stages and with the approval of the mayor.
The retirement age stipulated in the law for men is 67 and for women is 62. City employees who until now were interested in continuing to work after retirement age and up to the age of 70 were asked to submit their direct manager's recommendation to continue working in their jobs and with the approval of the Human Resources Committee. According to many considerations, including budgetary matters, the mayor would decide whether to approve or reject the request.
Employees who continue to work in the municipality after the retirement age continue their position and the scope of their position, and the same salary. The decision to postpone the receipt of the old citizen's pension from the National Insurance Institute or to receive a partial pension while continuing employment after retirement age is the choice of the employee.
The Kfar Saba municipality employs about 3,000 workers. Every year 50-60 applications are submitted on average by workers who have crossed the age of pension to extend the service until the age of 70. To date, not all applications have been approved at the mayor level, but from now on, 100% of the applications that passed the first two stages will be approved.
