The entrance to the "HaShalom" interchange in the south direction will be opened to traffic again tomorrow (Sunday) - the Ayalon Route Company announced. Traffic on the road was recently disrupted due to infrastructure work in the sinkhole area that opened at the interchange about two weeks ago. According to the company's announcement, the interchange will return "in a reduced format" starting at 05:00.
"At the end of the assessment of the situation and after deciphering the results of the latest and comprehensive tests, it was decided to open the eastern lane for the benefit of road users, also, entry to the Azrieli parking lot will be allowed for those coming from the Peace Interchange," it was reported.
"However, in light of the tests, the western lane will remain closed until we verify that the existing flow does not endanger the road users. The Ayalon Routes Company will continue to work with the Tel Aviv Municipality and the Azrieli Company until the results are received that will allow all lanes to be opened for the safety of road users."

A large sinkhole opened at the Shalom Interchange on one of the Ayalon routes two weeks ago. In the documentation from the scene, a large hole can be seen spread over two lanes and on the edge, near the Azrieli Mall towards the south. Fire and police forces blocked the interchange, and no injuries were reported. The police are now considering the possibility of sealing the Eilon lanes, following information that a collapse has been detected at a nearby construction site, and that the sinkhole may have opened as a result of the work on the site.
The police said that due to the collapse of a part of the road, the ascent to the Hashalom interchange towards the south was blocked for vehicle traffic. "Traffic on Highway 20 is open with only two lanes and traffic congestion is expected," the police said in a statement. The police estimate that the blockade will last a long time, and it may take several hours for the road to open to traffic. In addition to the hole in the road, stones fell from the wall adjacent to the sinkhole.
The Ayalon Roads Company let professionals and a constructor to inspect the sinkhole.
As a result of the collapse, a traffic jams were created in the area for the past two weeks.
