Against the background of increasing violence against workers and public servants, Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David announced that: "If no active and effective steps are taken in the next ten days by government ministries and relevant authorities to eradicate the phenomenon of violence against public servants General in the public sector, and every week I will put more and more sectors into sympathy strikes. From medical staff, public sector workers to public transportation drivers. "
Histadrut chairman Bar-David added: "Violence against workers serving the public is a phenomenon that, unfortunately, is only growing. Facts and workers are attacked and confronted by the incompetence of state authorities and law enforcement. It is time to act vigorously to completely eradicate the phenomenon. We will not agree to get used to these cases and these reports. "
Meanwhile, Bar-David instructed to air the Histadrut's propaganda campaign again on television: "Violence no longer works here." The campaign has risen in recent weeks and is aimed at raising awareness of the phenomenon of violence against workers and public servants. The campaign involves real workers: nurses and brothers, medical secretary, bus driver, social worker, parking inspector and social security workers - who wear protective vests during their work with the caption "Absorption readiness is routine here".
The Histadrut resents the violence against workers in a number of sectors, including public transportation. Drivers are attacked almost non-stop and the fear among public transport drivers that nothing will be done until one of them is killed.
Another sector affected by public violence is medical staff in hospitals and HMO clinics. Yesterday, a nurse was violently attacked by a patient and moderately injured. The strikes carried out on public transport and in hospitals also fail to curb the rising violence and require massive government action.
