The educations system will abolish the traffic light layout and operate like in all sectors

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education have officially announced a new outline for the education system, and it will take effect this coming Sunday, subject to the approval of the government and the Knesset Education Committee. The bottom line of the decision, the traffic light layout is abolished, and the conduct of the education system will be the same as driving throughout the economy, regardless of the color of the authority.
In case a student or teacher in the class is found to be positive for Corona, the students will undergo an antigen test. Immunized students will be able to pass a home test, while non-immunized students will be tested at one of the test centers. In case of a positive result they will be required in isolation for at least ten days and will be released only with a doctor's approval (a positive answer in a home examination will require a supervised examination afterward.
In case of a negative answer, students with a valid vaccine will be exempt from isolation. Unvaccinated students will be charged with seven-day isolation.
Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton objected to testing in schools, but according to the new outline in elementary schools will carry out the antigen tests for students and teaching staff of the corona trustees of each institution. The date of commencement of corona inspections by corona trustees has not yet been determined and will be announced later.
It was also agreed in the new outline that employees of the education system and visitors to educational institutions will be required to present a green card. Education system workers will also be able to present a negative test as it has been so far. The obligation to wear the mask in schools will continue. Educational institutions will be subject to general crowd restrictions. A district physician in the Ministry of Health will be authorized to order the closure of an educational institution, in consultation with the relevant district director in the Ministry of Education.
Institutions of higher learning will continue to operate under the green mark, and unvaccinated students will be allowed to perform one antigen test every 84 hours. The special outlines for informal education activities and classes, for boarding schools and the outline for trips with accommodation - have been abolished.
The new education outline will apply to all educational institutions: all kindergartens including nurseries, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, institutions of higher education and vocational training, non-formal education and boarding schools.
Until this week, the traffic light outline stipulated that in orange and red localities, classrooms would only be taught if at least 70% of the students were vaccinated. The outline has already been repealed with respect to orange localities, and is now also being repealed with the red localities.
In a conversation with Ynet yesterday, the Minister of Education said that the abolition of the traffic light will prevent 6,000 classes in red authorities from studying in Zum - and they will continue to reach the schools and will be able to study frontally. She said she struggled throughout the week to cancel the outline, in order to allow for as continuous a learning routine as possible.
