The number of verified variants of Omicron in Israel has risen to 11, the Ministry of Health announced. All four new cases are patients who have been vaccinated three times, three of them with Pfizer vaccines and one with modern vaccines. Two of them returned from France, one from the United States and one from South Africa.
In total, of the 11 verified for the Omicron variant in Israel, six of them are from South Africa, two from France, one from Malawi, one from England and one from the United States. Six of them were vaccinated three times, four were not vaccinated at all and one was vaccinated with a dose of Astraznica.

In addition, there is a high suspicion of another 24 cases of exposure to the Omicron variant, but the flooring results of these cases have not yet been reached. 16 of them are not vaccinated as required, but eight of them are. Half of the people suspected of being infected in the South African variant where they were from abroad or came in contact with returnees from abroad, whereas half of them have not been abroad recently.
Of all the certain cases and those with the suspicion that is defined as high, 12 patients suffer from symptoms, nine of them are not vaccinated as required, and 21 do not suffer from symptoms - 10 of them are not considered "protected", and 11 are vaccinated as required. Fourteen humans received a “borderline positive” result, and are defined as having low suspicion of infection in the new strain. These people were sent for re-examination.
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz held a situation assessment on Monday evening in which they discussed the isolation restrictions and tests for returnees from abroad as approved by the Corona Cabinet in line with the spread of variant Omicron.
Today, everyone who returns from abroad must enter isolation. Vaccines returning from orange, yellow and green countries are required in at least two days of isolation until a negative test result is obtained. Non-vaccinated people returning from each country are required to undergo two weeks of isolation.
Among the reliefs that appear to be approved on Thursday are shortening the isolation for returnees from yellow and orange countries to only 24 hours subject to a negative PCR test, and a one-week isolation for returnees from red states subject to two negative PCR tests.
Unvaccinated returnees from yellow and orange states will go into one-week isolation subject to two negative PCR tests. Returns from a red state will be required for a week of isolation at the Corona Hotel, at the expense of the isolator, subject to a negative PCR test.
Earlier yesterday, the government approved the third antigen operation in the education system, which has been launched since Tuesday - with the return of students to schools and kindergartens from the Hanukkah holiday. As part of the operation, students will be required to present a signed statement by their parents about performing an antigen test with a negative result as a condition of entering the institution.
"I suggest not underestimating Omicron," said Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. "There are those who say 'but the situation is so good in the country, so why are you coming and making it difficult?'. The reason the situation is good in the country is because we act fast and tight. Be careful at first than regret it later. "
