Over the weekend, an increase in attempts at cyber attacks against a number of hospitals and medical organizations was identified, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Health and the National Cyber System. It was also reported that early assessments and a quick response from the center and staff on the ground halted the attempts and no damage was done.
It was further reported that the additional burglary attempts were to the government hospitals, probably due to the fact that there is a less good defense system there than in the public hospitals and in general.

Check Point says that over the weekend there were more than 600 cyber attacks in the health sector in Israel, an increase of 72% compared to previous weekends. Check Point says they have managed to block the attacks and estimates that this trend will continue even more. The company's experts say that it seems that the great resonance of the attack on Hillel Yaffe Hospital has caused the various attack groups to try their luck, perhaps due to the thought that the sector is not sufficiently protected.
Meanwhile, the work of the bodies and other staff at Hillel Yaffe Hospital continues, with the aim of gradually returning the hospital's information systems to day-to-day operations and in a secure manner. According to estimates, the hackers broke into Hillel Yaffe's system a few months ago and only now have they decided to be exposed.
In recent days, the Ministry of Health and the National Cyber System have been carrying out many activities with bodies in the health sector to further strengthen the level of protection while identifying new vulnerabilities in the area that may be used for attacks and calling on bodies to close.
Mae Brooks-Kempler, a cyber expert, founder of the online safe community THINK SAFE CYBER wrote in a Facebook post that "the increase in the number of attempted attacks against hospitals can be classified as imitation events. Assault bodies see the publications on Hillel Yaffe, including "We hope that the situation will be similar in health bodies. It is also not inconceivable that hostile bodies are trying to attack health bodies in Israel right now, in order to harm the health system and create mass panic."
Last Wednesday, Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera was attacked by a heretical cyber attack. The hack was successful due to a malfunction in the remote work system, and was less secure. It is estimated that it will take many months to repair the damage caused.
The hospital said at the time that it was an incident "without prior notice, which affected the hospital's computer systems." It was also reported from the medical center that the hospital was run in alternative systems for the treatment of patients, and that the medical treatment took place on an ongoing basis with the exception of non-urgent elective activity.
After the incident, the Ministry of Health stated that "the case was reported to the Ministry of Health and we are working with the hospital to return the entire activity to a full routine." Later, the Niado Hospital in Netanya, in coordination with MDA and Hillel Yaffe, announced that it was prepared to accept patients whose treatment would not be possible following the cyber attack.
The head of the operations department at the national cyber system, Chen Girat, estimates that the attack on Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera has financial characteristics and not that of terrorist elements. In an interview, Girat said that at every moment there are cyber attacks, most of which manage to be stopped, but it is an endless pursuit against possible attackers. Giratt noted that a similar attack has taken place elsewhere in the world but in this country for the first time. According to him, returning the activities of Hillel-Yifa Hospital to a full routine will take time, since the event is complex
