The night between Sunday and Monday almost completely reduced the validity of the "green mark" that Israeli citizens were asked to display at the entrance to public and closed places, thus removing another significant part of the restrictions that accompanied the Corona period in general and the Omicron wave in particular. The decision was made by the Corona Cabinet in parallel with the gradual decrease in the number of infections and the coefficient of infection, which has fallen below 1 in recent days.
In its decision to abolish the green label, the government was assisted by the backing of the professional medical echelon that supported the move. The experts believed that its main purpose was to create a more protected environment for vaccinated people, but given the high infection rates of the omicron there was almost no difference between vaccinated and non-vaccinated. The move is expected to help recover the industries that have been hit the hardest in the last wave - culture, leisure, restaurants, cafes, bars, cinemas, gyms and more.
The immediate reaction of the Israelis to the intention to abolish the green mark is evident in the vaccines: in recent days, they have almost completely stopped getting vaccinated. On Saturday, only 61 people were vaccinated for the first time - the lowest daily number in this dose since the vaccination campaign began more than a year ago.
The requirement to display the character is completely eliminated, except for places that have been defined as having a high risk of infection. In "mass" places. That is, event halls and gardens, clubs and discos, conference spaces that include the serving or sale of food, and places where cultural activities take place that are not limited to seating.
The character must be presented (with an ID card) in the traffic light application of the Ministry of Health or as a printed document with a QR code. Negative result of a fast test (antigen) with private funding is valid for 24 hours from the test. You can present the QR code of the test itself at the entrance scan or turn it into a daily green mark by scanning the code in the traffic light app. Girls and boys aged 3 to 12 years and 3 months, as well as vaccine engines, can perform the state-funded test at licensed stations across the country.
For boys, girls and teenagers up to the age of 18 who are entitled to a green mark (according to the eligibility rules specified) - it will automatically appear in their parents' green mark. If they do not have an ID card, they can present a photocopy of a parent's ID card, including the appendix.
Boys and girls up to the age of 12 and 3 months who received a negative result in a PCR test as part of the "Education Shield" are entitled to a weekly green mark, which will be valid until the end of the seventh day after the test, including the test day itself.
Boys and girls aged 3 to 12 and 3 months and children who are not eligible for a green mark can enter by presenting a negative result of a quick test with a QR code performed up to 24 hours before entry. Alternatively, a green character can be generated from the test by scanning the code in the traffic light app.
The ministers decided to abolish the permissible occupancy restrictions in the place where the green daughter operates as well as the general crowd restriction. Also, the purple character requirement was abolished and also the requirement to set a distance of 1.5 meters between tables in the seating area in an open area of a dining room.
The government has approved the extension of education regulations, which include the obligation to wear a mask and the entry of unvaccinated workers into non-higher education institutions, subject to a negative result of an institutional check every 84 hours until March (twice a week). Under the new outline, recovering and vaccinated in two doses are entitled to a green label for four months. Vaccinated in three doses and more are entitled to a green label indefinitely.
Admission to nursing homes and seniors' clubs will be conditional on antigen testing. The Cabinet recommended that an examination be performed before meeting with an adult. The state will partially subsidize institutions that will establish antigen positions at the entrance to them. Unvaccinated workers in welfare, health and education institutions will not have to be tested twice a week. The decisions will take effect subject to the approval of the Knesset's Constitution Committee.
Regarding the departure of Israelis abroad, it was decided that from Tuesday there will be no obligation to perform a corona test for recovering and unvaccinated people leaving the country. However, the decision does not concern countries that require its presentation at the entrance to them. Passengers who have experienced symptoms in the two weeks prior to flight are required to present a negative institutional antigen test.
