According to updated data from the Ministry of Health published this morning, no deaths were recorded on Thursday as a result of complications of the corona virus in Israel. This is the first time since June 29, 2020, between the first wave of morbidity and the second wave. A total of 6,346 corona patients died in Israel from the outbreak of the plague.
The optimistic figure joins the sharp decline in the number of people in critical condition in hospitals, which this morning stands at 160 compared to more than 1,200 at the height of the third outbreak of the corona plague. In addition, there are currently only 1,860 active Corona patients - and out of about 35,000 tests performed in the past day, only 0.4% were found positive (129 verified).

However, the Ministry of Health often updates on the deceased even a few days after their deaths have been determined - so the figure may change later.
"The number of deaths is falling without a doubt," says Dr. Mickey Halbertl, director of Rambam Hospital. "The patients who are hospitalized with us have not been vaccinated. There is no doubt that the vaccines show their effectiveness and we are committed to trying to prevent the introduction of mutations into Israel as much as possible.
It is estimated that we will need an additional dose of vaccine at the end of a year from the previous vaccine. We are currently in the intensive care unit with two patients on an Acme device compared to five at the peak we had. At its peak, there were 25 inpatients in intensive care compared to five today, but this response still needs to be maintained. "
The number of vaccinated in the second dose exceeded the five million mark yesterday and now stands at 5,005,418. The number of vaccinated in the first dose this morning stands at 5,374,276.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Prof. Michael Dresher, director of the emergency department at Beilinson Hospital and chairman of the emergency medicine organization, updated records of emergency room visits in all hospitals in the first half of April, reflecting a 40% increase in the number of applicants compared to January This year.
"We still do not know what the reasons are but it can be assumed that quite a few treatments were postponed during the corona. People were reluctant to come to hospitals and indeed at the height of the plague there was a decrease in the number of applicants, and now we are seeing the results."
In large hospitals such as Sheba and Soroka, about 500 people arrived in less than a day for treatment in emergency departments, compared with about 300-400 in similar periods at the beginning of the year. Beilinson, Poria, Rambam and Meir hospitals also reported a heavy workload and a dramatic upward trend in the number of applicants, which began in March and intensified in April.
