Three months ago, Israel was among the leading countries in morbidity in Corona and at one point was in the first place in the world in morbidity per million inhabitants. But now, almost four months after the start of the vaccination campaign, when 85% of the target population has already been vaccinated - the situation is completely different.
According to data collected by a research body belonging to Oxford University, Israel is ranked 97th in the world in the ranking of new infections in the last week per million inhabitants - lower than the world average at the time. The morbidity rate in Israel last week was 33.51 infected per million inhabitants.

Uruguay ranks first with 924 infections per million inhabitants, followed by San Marino, Andorra, Bahrain, Cyprus, Serbia, Turkey, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, Jordan, Sweden, France, northern Macedonia, the Palestinian Authority, Montenegro, Slovenia and Bulgaria.
According to the same data, the average number of new infections in the EU is 312.15 per million inhabitants in the last week, slightly more than Brazil which suffers badly from the plague with 295.72 infected in the last seven days per million inhabitants.
The global average is, according to the same data, 77.02 infected per million inhabitants. Below average are countries like Russia and Portugal - which, like Israel, has drastically reduced morbidity in recent weeks.
Britain, where the vaccination campaign is also underway, is ranked 91st with 42.94 new infections per million inhabitants.
There are countries where the situation is better than ours. These include Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Morocco, South Korea, Egypt, Thailand and China.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health updated on Friday that on Thursday 209 positives were diagnosed in Corona in Israel. A total of 42,000 tests were performed and the positive rate remained low - 0.5%.
429 Corona patients are hospitalized in hospitals across the country, 276 of them in critical condition. 155 of them are connected to soul machines. Since the outbreak of the plague, 6,280 corona patients have died in Israel - eight of them yesterday. Since the beginning of the month, 65 corona patients have died in the country.
