Handwashing hygiene stations developed by Israel Development have been set up in Bangalore and Podochary districts in India with the aim of guiding and encouraging local residents, children and adults, to wash their hands properly and effectively and contribute to reducing morbidity from infectious diseases.
The stations were self-funded by the startup Soapy Care, which set itself a policy of providing washing stations in India and Africa with a tithe of ten sales in Israel and around the world. The project is in collaboration with the Swasti and Sanitation First organizations that promote community health in India. The positions were located in remote rural areas that suffer from high mortality rates of children due to intestinal diseases spreading mainly due to unclean hands.
The facilities include an artificial intelligence technology based on artificial intelligence that examines whether the rinsing was performed in an effective way that cleans them of bacteria and viruses and gives immediate feedback via a smart screen. In this way the user learns to wash properly including the wrists and the back side which often suffer from neglect and acquire correct habits. During rinsing, the device measures body temperature so that a risk of corona symptoms can be identified.
The facilities are very economical in water, a factor of great importance in India. They allow thorough washing of the hands in an amount equal to one cup, compared to 12 cups that are wasted on an average wash in the tap, which results in a lower hygienic result. Soap is also used efficiently and saves electricity which saves on maintenance costs. The development has won international awards for its groundbreaking approach to solving a global problem and is installed in workplaces, large kitchens, schools, sports halls, train and bus stations and airports.
Max Simnovsky, CEO of Soapy Care: “The model we have adopted for permanent contribution to the global community allows the project to exist over time because it is not dependent on donations and our clients to be partners in reducing child and adult morbidity around the world. We have many more facilities that have already been relocated to India and will be installed in the near future in more rural areas and neighborhoods in Delhi. "
