The head of the Ministry of Health's public health services, Dr. Sharon Elrai-Price, held a briefing for journalists against the background of current morbidity rates in Corona in Israel, according to which, for the first time since October 16, the daily verified threshold stands at more than 1,200 people. 1,227 people were diagnosed as positive for the virus.
Dr. Elrai-Price opened her remarks: “Today, for the first time in over a month, we have passed the threshold of 1,200 verified per day. When we look at a weekly graph of the number of verified, then also a weekly average of six days - the weekly daily number of verified already rises to 982. "She added:" I would not build on the vaccine. We will spend the coming winter when most of the State of Israel is not vaccinated. "
According to her, the main sources of illness are mainly in the Arab sector: "About 40% of the illness is in the Arab sector and 9% in the ultra-Orthodox sector." Dr. Elrai-Price cited as examples cities such as Beer Sheva and Ramat Gan: “We are closely monitoring the general sector. There are 90 localities in the State of Israel that are changing trend. It's the opposite of the trend we're afraid of. "
"We do not know the effects of the openness that has been made," Dr. Elrai-Price added. "Not the effects of all the openness of the trade and certainly not of the opening of the fifth-sixth grades. "We are expected to see an increase in the coefficient of infection and in the number of verified people."
Last October, 4,564 people died in Israel, and about 950 (about 20%) of them are among those who died from complications of corona disease. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of deaths in October this year is 26.6% higher than their number (3,604) this month last year.
Since the outbreak of the plague, 2,877 Israelis have died from corona. The peak was recorded on October 8, when 47 corona patients died in one day. On October 1 and 11, 46 corona patients died each day.
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics also show that the number of deaths in October was close to that of January - the month in which most Israelis die due to winter illnesses. In January this year, 4,584 Israelis died - 20 more than in October. However, the CBS data for October are still being updated and the number of deaths may be closer to that of January and may even exceed it.

The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday that 1,227 people have been diagnosed with Corona in the past day - a record of a month and a half of infections per day. This increased the number of verified infections in Israel to 357,207 people. Yesterday, results were obtained for 57,428 tests, with the percentage of positive for the virus being 2.1%. The test data and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates from the Ministry of Health.
"Unfortunately, I expect that in the next week or two we will see the numbers go up, because we are in the adhesion coefficient R above 1," said Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kish in an interview with Gali Tzahal.
The number of active patients is 10,513. The hospitals hospitalize 507 patients, of whom 99 are respirators and 264 are seriously ill. As of today, 2,865 people have died from the corona virus in Israel.
Yesterday, 985 people were diagnosed in Corona. The number of tests was 39,774, of which 2.5% were found to be positive for the virus.
The Ministerial Committee for Restricted Areas last night approved the closure of Dvoraya and five neighborhoods in Rahat. Starting tomorrow and for five days, neighborhoods 4, 9, 17, 21 and al-Ziadna in the north, as well as the locality of Dvoria in the Jezreel Valley, will be defined as restricted areas. This is due to the spread of the corona in these localities.
In addition, the committee approved the extension of the declarations of restricted areas: Nazareth will be defined as a restricted area for an additional three days - until Friday at 8:00, and Kfar Manda will be defined as such for another five days - until Sunday at 17:00.

The Knesset's Science and Technology Committee discussed yesterday  the issue of corona vaccines and their distribution in Israel. The director of the Biological Institute, Prof. Shmuel Shapira, estimated that the vaccine made in Israel will start being given from the beginning of the summer of 2021: "We have an effective and safe vaccine, and our intention is to produce 15 million vaccines. We finished the first phase five days ago. Ten days".
Prof. Shapira added that "if we had not encountered over-regulation, we would have been more advanced. We should have been in the third stage already, and now we will only reach it in April."
According to Prof. Shapira, "We tested our vaccine in four models, including 80 people who received it, and it had very minor side effects." Prof. Shapira also referred to the reliability of the vaccine and said that "we are not a company that runs stocks, we are very reliable. Our ethical commitment is very high. Our vaccine is a safe foot on the ground, not birds on a tree. I am sure it will be the vaccine of the citizens of Israel."
The Ministry of Health updated this morning that 985 more corona patients were diagnosed yesterday, and the positive rate was 2.5% out of about 37,000 tests - compared to 3.3% on Saturday. The number of respirators jumped from 92 last night to 114 this morning, and the IDF's intelligence department warns: The current morbidity is much higher. 263 corona patients are hospitalized in critical condition. 2,864 Israelis died from the outbreak of the plague.
The Intelligence Division added that even if part of the increase in verifications is due to the increase in the number of daily checks, this does not explain the entire increase. In addition, in the last two weeks there has also been an increase in the rate of positive tests. According to the Intelligence Department, "Analyzing the time for the development of an acute wave of illness, it becomes clear that there may be a significant wave of illness before the effects of the vaccine - in case the economy opens up in an uncontrolled manner. .
Today, a modern company announced that it would today submit to the Directorate of Medicines and Food the vaccine for Corona that it had developed for approval. The company reiterated that the effectiveness of the vaccine is extremely high and sometimes in severe cases it is one hundred percent effective. Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said this morning that the first vaccines will not arrive in Israel before spring next year. However, officials in the Ministry of Health stated that about one hundred and fifty thousand vaccines will be distributed in Israel by the end of the year, probably to the medical staff.
