Five people were killed in separate incidents across Israel over the past 24 hours, as authorities continue to grapple with a surge in violent crime linked to organized crime and family feuds.
According to official figures, 166 people have been murdered in Israel since the beginning of the year, including at least 137 victims from the Arab community. During the same period last year, 159 people were killed.
A 25-year-old Jaffa resident, Mustafa Abu Lasan, was killed Sunday morning when his vehicle exploded on HaLohamim Street in Holon. Several nearby vehicles were also damaged in the blast.
Abu Lasan had a criminal record and was awaiting trial after being indicted for allegedly helping destroy evidence connected to the murder of Hussein Buda in Jaffa. Prosecutors accused him of burning clothing and other items used in the killing in an attempt to obstruct the investigation.
Two Men Shot Dead in Kalansuwa
Roughly two hours earlier, two men in their 40s—Adnan Ghanem and Ghaleb Abu Ras, both residents of Kalansuwa—were shot and killed.
Police said the attack was likely linked to an ongoing family feud and is believed to be an act of revenge for the killing of a married couple in the city approximately two weeks ago.
Another Car Explosion Kills Man in Jaffa
Earlier Sunday morning, a 38-year-old man was killed in a separate vehicle explosion on Saharon Street in Jaffa.
A six-year-old child was moderately injured in the blast and was evacuated to Wolfson Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators believe the incident is connected to the fatal shooting of teenager Ahmed Jaabari last week.
Late Saturday night, 18-year-old Bakr Nusairat was shot in Tayibe in central Israel.
He was transported in critical condition to Meir Medical Center, where doctors later pronounced him dead. Another man, approximately 20 years old, was seriously wounded.
Police said the shooting appears to be connected to an internal family dispute.
Police Continue Multiple Murder Investigations
Police have launched separate investigations into each of the incidents, with early findings pointing to organized crime activity, revenge attacks, and long-running family disputes.
The latest killings underscore the continuing challenge facing Israeli law enforcement as violent crime, particularly within the Arab community, remains at historically high levels.
