For the first time since October 21: More than a thousand new Corona infections were diagnosed

For the first time since October 21, more than a thousand new infections were diagnosed in Corona yesterday (Wednesday). This is according to data from the Ministry of Health published this morning. More than 60,000 corona tests were performed yesterday and the positive rate is 1.8%. The verified rate without survey tests is 2.2%.
510 corona patients are hospitalized in hospitals across the country, 282 of them in critical condition. 122 patients connected to respirators. The death toll since the outbreak is 2,826. The number of active patients, as defined by the Ministry of Health, also continues to rise and this morning it reached 9,422.
The data show that 1,224 of the patients live in Jerusalem, 416 in Nazareth, 341 in Haifa, 292 in Tel Aviv, 228 in Umm al-Fahm, 176 in Rahat, 172 in Bnei Brak, 134 in Holon, 133 in Araba, 133 in Be'er Sheva, 130 in Ramla, 129 in Petah Tikva, 127 in Taibeh, 123 in Kafr Qassem, 116 in Shefar'am, 115 in Rishon Lezion, 114 in Majdal Shams, 112 in Majdal Krum, 108 in Buqata, 107 in Iksal, 106 in Sakhnin and 105 in Ashdod.
For comparison, on Tuesday 832 Israelis were diagnosed as positive for Corona and close to 58,000 tests were performed. 1.4% of them were positive. The positive rate without survey tests stood at 1.8% on Tuesday.
In survey tests conducted in nursing homes the positive rate was 0.1%, in survey tests of yeshiva members 1% and in tests defined as "teaching" the positive rate was 2.1% (47 out of 2,212 tests) - higher than the figure without survey tests.
Meanwhile, the AMN report states that "in the overall picture - and especially towards next week - the implementation of the planned reliefs without excessive care that accompanies them (masks, social distance, enforcement, etc.) in all sectors of the country, is expected to accelerate morbidity."
Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health Professor Itamar Grotto says that the increase in the last day of more than a thousand people infected with corona is high but the weekly average is still low. Grotto estimated in an interview that the first corona vaccines will arrive early next year. Professor Grotto stated that there will be no obligation to get vaccinated but restrictions may be imposed on people who refuse to be vaccinated.
