Corona projector Prof. Roni Gamzo said that the morbidity rate in the red cities in Israel is among the highest in the world. According to Gamzo, "There are not many such cities in the world. I have to protect the residents. What we are doing is not pleasant for the residents but it is also protective. It is a means of reducing morbidity."
Gamzo referred to the closure of the education system in the red authorities and said that "we know that all over the world it is difficult to open them with such a large morbidity rate. And in Israel the morbidity rate in green cities is also high. So we opened it there. Gamzo has stated that he will increase the number of corona tests to about 100,000 a day by November 1st. He said, "We are increasing the quota of tests. I want more tests, more interruptions and more of our work in this context. When I see a lot of tests, a lot of verified and a positive test rate that goes down to me - that's actually good news."
The night curfew on 40 localities and neighborhoods where the morbidity is particularly high will take effect tonight at 19:00. Earlier today, the Committee of Ministers for Restricted Areas approved the list of localities to be imposed on them or on neighborhoods in their area by night curfew. The list was approved in a telephone poll, and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) was the only one who opposed the move.
The curfew, which will last a week, until September 15, will take effect daily at 7:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. During curfews, residents will be able to walk away from their homes for up to 500 meters, and the businesses in them will be closed except for essential businesses. Also, the education system in these localities will move to distance learning, except in special education.
The localities to be imposed on them or on neighborhoods within their curfew are Abu Sanan; Umm al-Fahm; Eilat: Shachmon neighborhood; Elad; Ashdod: Neighborhoods C, Z and H; Ashkelon: Mitzpe Barnea neighborhoods, Barnea Gardens, Neot Barnea, Givat Zion and Carmei Zion; Buqata; Beit Shemesh: Ramat Beit Shemesh A, Ramat Beit Shemesh C and Menucha and Nahala neighborhoods; Bnei Brak; Beitar Illit (to be approved by a general order); The settlement of Najidat in the area of Ein-Najidat; Bekaa al-Gharbiya; Julis; Jaljulia; Jat; Dali'at El-Carmel; Abtan locality in the Zemer local council; Taibeh; castle; Beautiful; Jerusalem: The neighborhoods of Kfar Akev, Beit Hanina, Ramat Shlomo, Ramot, a-Tur, Issawiya, Anata, Shuafat and Sanhedria refugee camps; The locality of Kasra in the local council of Kasra-Samia; Kfar Bara; Manda Village; Kfar Qassem, excluding the industrial areas of Lev Ha'aretz and Nof Ha'aretz; Kfar Kara; Kia Local Council; The localities of Mushirfa and Salem in the Ma'ale Iron local council; Nazareth; Netivot; Ein Mahel; Emanuel (to be approved by a general order); Espia; Arara; Fureidis; Kalenswa; Reina; Ridges; Sderot: Neot Yitzhak Rabin and Neot Haneviim neighborhoods; And Shefar'am.
The list of localities is based on the list of "red" authorities, which included about 30 authorities with a high morbidity rate. In the last day, ten more authorities have been added, to which the night curfew will be imposed. The imposition of the curfew is not only based on the definition of the city as red in the "traffic light" model, but includes a hearing procedure for the various localities, during which the professional teams subordinate to the Corona struggle projector, Prof. Roni Gamzo, inform the head of the authority they intend to impose a curfew. The government was supposed to impose the night curfew yesterday, but the move was postponed to today due to a delay in formulating the list of localities following the talks with the heads of the authorities.
As part of the procedure, meetings are held with each and every one of the heads of the authorities, in which the relevant data and the reasons for imposing the curfew are presented. The heads of the authorities have the opportunity to present their position, and their own reasons regarding the list of restrictions that will be imposed on the locality or council they head. Accordingly, according to officials in the health system, the process of formulating the list continued until late at night. In some cases it was particularly complex and provoked opposition from the heads of the authorities, who sought to prevent the night curfew in their area.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health published this morning, 1,068 new infections have been diagnosed in Corona since yesterday. The number of patients hospitalized has increased by six since yesterday and now totals 920 people. The number of patients in a serious condition is 463, a decrease of seven from last night, while 127 of them are connected to respirators, a decrease of eight from yesterday. The death toll remains unchanged at 1,026. Last night, 5,687 tests were performed to detect the corona virus.
Many local authorities have expressed resentment over the decision of the Ministerial Committee for Limited Area Affairs, regarding the list of red cities where a night curfew will apply tonight. In those localities, various allegations were made regarding the effectiveness of measures to curb the spread of the corona, and some even argued for a discriminatory policy towards various sectors.
The Beitar Illit municipality sharply criticized the list, which was approved with a one-day delay, and declared that they would not give a hand in "discrimination against the ultra-Orthodox public." According to them, it was decided to impose a total night curfew only on the ultra-Orthodox cities on the list, while in the other cities only a few neighborhoods were included. This argument comes despite the fact that it was decided to impose a night closure on other cities in a sweeping manner, such as Netivot.
"We demand full transparency of the morbidity data, and detailed explanations as to why a curfew is imposed on the entire ultra-Orthodox city, and not by neighborhoods," said Beitar Illit. "We will not be able to back up moves that are made without transparency. We will be able to cooperate in eradicating the disease, only when explanation
