Amazon has confirmed that it is acquiring Israeli start-up Cloud Andndure, which is developing solutions for the public cloud. It is estimated that the purchase amount is around $ 250 million. Cloud Andor, based in Ramat Gan, was founded six years ago and has since raised $ 20 million.
The founders of Cloud Andor are CEO Ofer Gadish, Gil Shai, Ofir Ehrlich and Leonid Feinberg, who have invested in the company's corporate venture capital fund, Magma Venture Capital, Zohar Gilon and the InfoSys fund.
Cloud Andor allows cloud-to-cloud information to be transmitted seamlessly, for example to organizations working in a multi-cloud environment. So a company can keep its data, and retrieve the information if something in the cloud crashes. The reason why a company works in a multi-cloud environment is because of financial considerations (independent of one cloud provider), risk dispersion (for example, if there is a cyber break to the cloud, not all of your information is hacked), or operational considerations More). Cloud Andor's product also enables the transfer of information more smoothly than physical servers to the cloud.
Amazon, the world's largest cloud service provider, believes it has an advantage over other major cloud providers, and therefore wants to allow a smoother transition to its cloud service. So the acquisition of Cloud Andor can help her. Amazon's market share in the cloud is 52% - more than all of its competitors. Next is Microsoft, whose cloud platform holds 13% of the market, followed by Alibaba (about 5% of the market) and Google (about 3%).
Amazon enjoys $ 27 billion in revenue each year from cloud services. Revenue from cloud services accounts for only 11% of Amazon's revenue, but they are growing rapidly - in 2018, Amazon is expected to post revenue similar to that of 2016 and 2017 together. In the third quarter, the company posted growth of 46% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2017.
