Elbit won a huge contract from the Australian Army in the amount of about 600 million dollars, to supply systems to the Hanwha Defense Australia company for the Land 400 Phase 3 project. The project is designed to provide the Australian Army with about 450 new-generation tracked APCs, which will replace their old APCs , when Elbit provides part of its defense, combat and sensing systems for the Redback type APCs.
Among other things, Elbit will supply the APCs with a 30 mm turret, which is based on the latest generation of the Israeli Systems Company, equipped with
The announced contract will be executed over a period of five years. Bezalel (Butsi) Machlis, president and CEO of Elbit Systems, said: "This milestone reaffirms our commitment to providing advanced and critical solutions to the Australian military. Elbit Systems is committed to providing advanced defense technologies that will protect the soldiers on the modern battlefield." Advanced artillery sights, electro-optical systems and an active defense system of the "Spur Arrow" type, an arena detection system, situational awareness systems, and more.
2023 was a record year in Elbit's order backlog, as in the rest of the defense industries that are benefiting from a surge in demand for weapons following the war between Russia and Ukraine. The backlog of orders amounted to 16.6 billion dollars, and it appears that this record will also be broken in the coming year. Elbit's annual turnover was about 5.5 billion dollars in 2023.
Before the announcement of winning the tender for the Australian army, Elbit announced that it had won a contract in the amount of 300 million dollars for the supply of systems for armored vehicles to a European customer. These are weapons, patrol, driving and awareness systems for about 230 armored vehicles. The contract will be spread over a period of 6 years, and includes custom design, manufacturing, maintenance for the life of the product, and full in-country product support.
Machlis said in an interview that the world's defense spending has increased greatly in recent years because of a number of conflicts that are happening, the tension between the US and China, which increased the US defense budget, in Europe the Russia-Ukraine war and in our region the conflict with the Iranians. Increasing defense budgets has become a trend all over the world. I estimate that as a result The war in Gaza, the trend will accelerate. Despite the failure on October 7, I think that the Israeli technology of all companies has proven itself in combat in a successful way that supports Israel's supremacy in the matter."
