Elbit Systems Secures $109 Million Contract to Supply "Hats" Systems to European Country

Posted on Sep 12, 2023 by Ifi Reporter

Israeli defense technology giant, Elbit Systems, continues its winning streak with a substantial contract worth $109 million. The company has inked a deal with an undisclosed European nation to provide their cutting-edge "Hats" systems to the country's armed forces. The agreement stipulates the delivery of these systems within a strict three-year timeframe.

As part of this lucrative contract, Elbit Systems has also committed to supply BAE Systems Hägglunds with their Iron Fist Active Protection System, enhancing the capabilities of the CV90 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC). The Iron Fist system is renowned for its lightweight, low power consumption, and compact design, offering a 360-degree perimeter protection solution against a wide array of anti-armor threats. These threats range from anti-tank rockets (RPGs) to kinetic tank shells, suitable for both open-field warfare and urban combat environments.

Cutting-Edge Sensor Technology

One of the standout features of the Darvan Arrow system, included in the "Hats" package, is its advanced sensor technology. This system combines dual technologies of search and surveillance radar with infrared cameras, all seamlessly integrated through sophisticated data fusion algorithms. This combination enables rapid, reliable, and accurate detection, identification, and tracking of threats. When a threat is detected, the Darvan Arrow system responds by launching an interceptor to neutralize the danger, creating a shock wave that safely dismantles or deflects the threat away from the protected platform.

Yehuda (Odi) Ward, CEO of Elbit Land Systems, highlighted the increasing dangers that armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) and tanks face on the modern battlefield. Recent conflicts have underscored the urgency of adopting advanced protection systems like the Darvan Arrow. This system has proven its efficacy against a diverse range of threats, including kinetic tank ammunition and drones, effectively neutralizing them at a safe distance from the brave forces it safeguards.

In a world where military technology continually evolves, partnerships like the one between Elbit Systems and their European counterpart are vital to ensure the safety and effectiveness of armed forces. The "Hats" system, powered by the Darvan Arrow, stands as a testament to the innovation and dedication of companies striving to keep our armed forces at the forefront of defense technology.
