Posted on Nov 6, 2018 by Ifi Reporter

The Israeli company Moovit announced a new collaboration with the Microsoft cloud service Azure - which will provide the American company with the public transport interface for its new mapping service. The amount of the deal was not disclosed but is estimated by industry officials at several tens of millions of dollars.
Moovit's public transport information will be integrated into Azure Maps and will be available to all developers using the tool. As part of the collaboration, Mobit will run the server layer that provides developer API services on Azure and will gradually migrate its other products to the Azure environment. Microsoft will be able to integrate in the applications and services it is developing Moovitt's public transport data.
Moovit now provides public transport information in 2,600 cities across 85 countries, and Erez has 60% more information on the competitor from Google and another new city every 15 hours.
"Our developers and cloud service customers have requested a comprehensive mapping solution that also includes public transport data to present a complete mobile image," said Tara Prakaria, Group Manager of Azure Maps and Microsoft Connected Vehicles.
"By providing location services that include data and transit information on Azure Maps, developers will be able to create smarter and smarter location-based applications in real time, and our cloud customers in a variety of industries such as automotive, public sector, health and manufacturing will be able to leverage Data and services to further improve the way consumers access local and transit information services worldwide. "
"We have more than 300 million users, and we feel comfortable sharing the information we have gathered on other platforms," he said.
