Time Magazine: Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is one of the 100 Most Influential People

Posted on Sep 16, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was elected today (Wednesday) to Time Magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2021. The page describing the reasons for choosing Bennett was written by his coalition partner, chairman of the RAAM Mansour Abbas party.
"After four elections in two years, it takes a bold step to unite the country that was in a desperate political stalemate," Abbas wrote. Abbas adds that "Bennett threw himself into the political fire storm to maintain ties that were not previously perceived as possible, left and right, Arabs and Jews, religious and secular.

" Abbas called the current government "one of the most diverse governments in the history of Israel."
Abbas later described a conversation he had with Naftali Bennett in the Knesset, "Bennett told me: 'I do not do things in the dark,' in a conversation he agreed to be visible, after I got used, as an Arab leader, that the cameras remain outside the room." Abbas describes that Bennett told him "we are in a period of polarization and hatred, the Israeli public needs unity." "It's not just the flashes from the cameras that lit up the room at this moment, it's the hope for a brighter future for all of us," Abbas concluded.
The list of 100 influencers this year also includes the brothers Muna and Muhammad al-Kurd, Palestinian activists who are interviewed around the world regarding the struggle of the residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem. Muna also runs an Instagram page that is followed by more than 1.6 million people worldwide.
Also on the list is American gymnast Simon Bales, who announced her retirement during the Tokyo Olympics due to mental and emotional difficulties, but eventually participated in the personal exercise and won a bronze medal. The title of "Most Influential People" was also won by, among others: US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamla Harris, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Duke and Duchess of Sussex Harry and Megan, singers Britney Spears and Billy Aylish, CEO of Apple, Tim Cook and actresses Scarlett Johansson and Kate Winslet.
