The Revolutionary Guards have confirmed that seven of their members, including high-ranking officers, were killed in an attack in Damascus, which Israeli officials have acknowledged responsibility for. Among the casualties are the deputy commander of the Quds Force, Muhammad Reza Zahidi, and his deputy, along with five other officers.

Reports from the New York Times suggest that the attack targeted the Iranian embassy and consulate in Damascus, purportedly aimed at disrupting a meeting involving members of the Islamic Jihad.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, condemned the attack as a "violation of all international conventions" and warned Israel of potential consequences.

Simultaneously, apprehensions rose in northern Israel following the attack in Syria, with alarms sounding in settlements across the Upper Galilee and the Western Galilee, as well as in the southern Golan Heights. Fears of hostile aircraft infiltrating the region prompted heightened alert levels.

This incident comes shortly after another attack attributed to Israel near Aleppo, Syria, resulting in significant casualties among Syrian army personnel and Hezbollah militants. Israel's involvement in both incidents has heightened tensions in the region and raised concerns about escalating conflict.
