In a concerning escalation of tensions, at least 50 rockets have been reported launched from Lebanon towards Israel. Reports indicate that Kiryat Shmona, a town in northern Israel, was targeted, with 30 launches detected in the barrage. Fortunately, Israeli defenses intercepted 13 missiles, and the remaining 17 fell in open areas, resulting in no injuries or damage reported at this stage.

Responding swiftly to the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched counterattacks on Hezbollah targets across six areas in southern Lebanon. Media outlets in Lebanon have confirmed that at least three terrorists were killed in the village of Khula. Among the targeted sites were Hezbollah's operational headquarters and launch positions, as well as military buildings in various regions.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the rocket barrage on Kiryat Shmona, citing it as retaliation for an Israeli attack on Khula, where reportedly four individuals, including a family, were killed. However, Israeli sources have contested these claims, stating that only ten rockets were intercepted out of 30 detected launches.

In light of these developments, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized the need for preparedness, urging military personnel to be ready for the possibility of further escalation. Gallant stressed the importance of ensuring citizens' safety amidst the escalating tensions, cautioning against complacency.

Meanwhile, Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati revealed that American envoy Amos Hochstein proposed measures aimed at de-escalating tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border. These measures reportedly include strengthening the Lebanese army and implementing UN Resolution 1701. However, Hezbollah's stance on the proposal remains uncertain, as the group has previously linked any settlement to a ceasefire in Gaza.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the region, with both Israel and Hezbollah maintaining their positions amidst the growing concerns of further violence. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
