Prime Minister Yair Lapid spoke on the phone at noon with the heads of authorities in the south and informed them of the progress of Operation "Dawn" and the assessments for the continuation. The Prime Minister emphasized that it must be ensured that the residents listen to the directives of the Home Front Command, saying that they save lives. Lapid's office stated that the heads of the authorities expressed support for the goals of the operation, and said that the residents of the Otaf are strong and there is a spirit behind the continuation of the operation until security is restored to the area.
It was also reported that Lapid heard from the heads of the authorities about the immediate and long-term needs of the area, following the operation. In addition, the Prime Minister informed them that later today the Chief Executives' Forum will convene, led by the Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, "with the aim of mapping, synchronizing and optimizing the measures for the residents in order to help as much as possible".
Defense Minister Gantz visited the Iron Dome battery today together with the air defense commander, Lt. Col. Gilad Biran, and the soldiers of the battery. "We are on the second day of the 'Dawn' operation, which aims to stop the threats of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, and restore peace and stability to the Gaza Strip," Gantz said during the visit.
Gantz added that "the leadership of the Islamic Jihad that sits abroad in restaurants and stays in hotels in Tehran, Syria and Lebanon - is cut off from its own people and seriously harms the lives and livelihoods of the residents of Gaza - they will also pay the bill. The Revolutionary Guards will not pay the salaries of the residents of Gaza. The offensive effort against the perpetrators of terrorism will continue and intensify - without borders and without limitations."
About 300 people gathered in the afternoon at the entrance to Umm al-Fahm for a demonstration of solidarity with the Gaza Strip. The demonstrators waved pictures of the dead in the Gaza Strip and shouted, "Stop murdering innocent civilians", "Gaza will be strong", "We will continue the struggle" and "We are not afraid, Israel is a terrorist state". A demonstration was also held in Haifa led by the Hadash movement in Emil Habibi Square at the entrance to Wadi Nisnas.
Since last night, the rockets have not stopped being launched towards the Gaza Strip - and around 12:00 the firing range expanded - and a barrage was also fired towards Ashdod, Modi'in and Shefala. As a result of the barrage damage was detected at the factory in Eshkol, and a fire broke out in it.
In the afternoon, the IDF allowed to publish that two IDF soldiers who serve in an elite unit were slightly injured this morning as a result of an IED falling in Eshkol. The wounded are fully conscious, and were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. At first there were reports that the two were injured by a rocket that fell earlier and exploded, but Later it turned out that it was an IED that fell near them.
In the meantime, the leader of the Islamic Jihad, Ziad Nachala, met in Tehran with the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Salami, and the two discussed "Israeli aggression in Gaza and ways to strengthen the Palestinian resistance", according to a report on the Iranian Arabic-language Al-Alam channel. On Iranian television, Salami was quoted as threatening: "Israel will pay a heavy price for its attacks in Gaza." At the end of the meeting, Nachala said that "we will continue the resistance alongside the other factions. We are able to give an appropriate response to any harm."
