About three hours after the start of the "Dawn" operation in the Gaza Strip, the IDF renewed its attacks against Islamic Jihad targets. According to the announcement of the IDF spokesman, "Special forces and artillery of the IDF attacked military positions of the  Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. A number of operatives of the Islamic Jihad were eliminated in the attacks." At the same time, Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi instructed the IDF to go into emergency mode and open the high command post.
A senior officer in the IDF said that "currently there are attacks against operational targets of the Jihad in order to thwart its attempts to act in the future". He revealed that the organization recently carried out a murderous attack against civilians on the border of the Gaza Strip, in parallel with the processes that the IDF identified in the organization. He referred to the alert in the Gaza Strip in recent days and the criticism that followed: "We acted responsibly and isolated areas in the Strip to protect the civilians. We killed the initiative of the jihad in a coordinated manner and damaged the chain of planning and execution of the attack they planned, from the elements on the ground to the commander of the northern area in the Gaza Strip, one by one The organization's senior officials in the Gaza Strip, Taysir Jabari."
Earlier, Iron Dome batteries were also deployed in Jerusalem and Be'er Sheva, in addition to the concentration of Iron Dome batteries in the Gaza Strip, following the assassination of the senior Islamic Jihad, Taysir Jabari, who served as the commander of the northern region of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Israel decided to initiate the operation, which began with the wave of attacks in the Gaza Strip. A senior officer said earlier that the IDF was waiting for an "operational and intelligence opportunity after the approval of an organized plan to go out with countermeasures and attacks."

Israel decided to initiate the operation, which began with the wave of attacks in the Gaza Strip. A senior officer said earlier that the IDF was waiting for an "operational and intelligence opportunity after the approval of an organized plan to go out with countermeasures and attacks."
He noted that in the attack, in which about 10 terrorists were killed, the "intermediaries" who planned the attack were also attacked. Alongside the GAP and Hamas positions that carried out intelligence gathering. The operation may develop in several directions and no one will be surprised by rocket barrages and that's what we prepared for. The directives of the Home Front Command must be implemented, it will save lives, it won't take an hour or two, and it will take time." The Gaza Ministry of Health claims that eight people were killed, including a 5-year-old girl, and 44 others were injured.
The senior officer clarified that the operation is directed solely against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad: "There are still things to do and we have not said the last word. The people of Israel must keep calm and I thank the national resilience demonstrated so far by the residents of the south. We have no interest in the Gaza Strip except with the Jihad and therefore the operation is focused on it. We make a great effort to avoid collateral damage in Gaza and that will be the case here as well. They planned an attack and it backfired on them."
He also referred to the preparations for a wider operation and said that "we are preparing more ground forces for the defense and attack efforts if they develop later." Jabari, a senior official of the organization that was eliminated, 50 years old, and lives in Saja'iya. Before his current position, he was an aide to his predecessor, Baha Abu al-Ata, who was killed in the "Black Belt" operation in 2019. In the past year, he also served as the head of the organization's operations department and the coordinator of activities with Hamas. Jaberi commanded the firing of hundreds of rockets into Israel during Operation "Guardian of the Walls" last year. The warning about Jabari's presence began a week before the arrest of the organization's top official in Jenin, Bassem al-Saadi.
