Nine Palestinians, including a 16-year-old boy and a journalist, were killed in confrontations along the security fence in the Gaza Strip. Palestinians report that more than 1,000 people were injured by live ammunition
IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Ronen Manelis said that 20,000 Palestinians participated in violent riots in five locations throughout the Gaza Strip. According to him, there were attempts to damage the fence and cross it under the cover of thick smoke. The rioters also threw explosive devices and Molotov cocktails. IDF forces used crowd dispersal measures and fired under the Open-Fire Regulations
The United States once again prevented the Security Council from receiving a statement in support of the right of the Palestinians to demonstrate peacefully along the security fence and to adopt the call of the UN Secretary General to conduct an independent and independent investigation into the violent events in Gaza
Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour said at the UN Center in New York that fourteen of the 15 council members supported the statement except the United States
He defined Washington's position as irresponsible. Mansur stressed that the US position gives Israel a green light to continue the assault on the Palestinian people in Gaza
He said the Palestinians would try to raise their case at the UN General Assembly or the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. He noted that they might try to formulate a statement by the president of the UN General Assembly on the matter. "We will not give up and we will not give up," he said
Arab League Ambassador Majed Abdelaziz said that the League's foreign ministers will meet in Riyadh this weekend and discuss ways to promote the Palestinian issue
The Palestinian Journalists' Association calls on the United Nations to provide protection to Palestinian journalists and says it will sue the murderers of a journalist who was shot dead yesterday when he covered the demonstrations near the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip
A source in Gaza said that he was shot while the plane was hovering and photographed the events with them, saying that he was shot in the stomach even though he wore a vest with the inscription "journalist." Palestinian sources report that another six Palestinian journalists were injured yesterday in the coverage of the clashes near the fence.
