Thousands demonstrated tonight (Saturday) against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and government corruption, in three areas - in front of the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem, in Habima Square in Tel Aviv and near the Netanyahu family home in Caesarea. The main demonstrations were preceded by hundreds of small demonstrations at intersections, interchanges and bridges across the country. This is the 32nd consecutive week of protest.
During the evening, hundreds of protesters in the capital marched from the String Bridge to the Prime Minister's residence on Balfour Street, in protest of the corona's failures, demanding the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the government's conduct and archiving the 30-year corona cabinet proceedings. The march also took place on Burglars Street in the city, where another house owned by the Netanyahu family is located. Police blocked the marchers using a special car to spray water and two of them were arrested. Protesters, on the other hand, claim to have been scratched by a knife used by one of the policemen to destroy a display of an inflatable submarine.
Police said that while hundreds of protesters were marching from the direction of the String Bridge, some of them chose to violate the order amid violence and clashes with police forces. Among other things, the marchers sought to break through the police blockade near the president's house there while using violence and throwing objects at the police, and attempts to move the representatives of those subjects began to disrupt the order during which a police officer was attacked and wounded in the face.
During the disturbance, the police were forced to disperse the protesters using means to restore order on the spot. During the evening, two suspects were arrested by the police for disorderly conduct and assaulting police officers.
The "Prime Minister" stated that "the Jerusalem police are weak against hill boys and ultra-Orthodox and strong against Democratic demonstrators who have been protesting for over six months. This is how violent political police conduct themselves in the service of a criminal accused who has no red line to sabotage in protest." They added that "it is unfortunate that instead of dealing with crime, the police are engaged in violence and sewing cases for law-abiding protesters."
Following the clashes, the Komi Israel youth movement said that "Netanyahu is once again using the Israeli police to suppress the protest against him because he smells his political end. Lies The police will deal with crime in Arab society. "
Activists and "no situation" activists also took part in the main demonstration in Balfour next to the protest tent set up about seven months ago. The movement said that "the number of victims of the corona continues to rise and the lives of thousands are cut short due to a weak government that is not functioning, and is not professionally dealing with the plague for its citizens."
More than 2,000 people gathered in the Habima plaza and more continue to attend the demonstration on the failures of the Corona crisis, which arose that Schwartzman opened the evening followed by other speakers. To sum up the evening, Schwartzman said that "over 4,700 deaths in an island state with one entrance gate are not a fate, but a failed management of a leader who does not see the good of the citizen before his eyes."
In Caesarea, about a thousand people demonstrated, as the chairman of the Movement for Quality of Government, Eliad Shraga, spoke at the demonstration, and told about the discussion that took place this week in the Submarine High Court. "The judges were very attentive and knew the material on its own - which gave a good feeling. I will not prophesy but very much hope that in light of the difficult questions the judges asked the state - we will receive conditional orders."
"It was further proven this week that Netanyahu received a forbidden gift from his cousin - the ombudsman also finally understood this," Shraga continued. "The death that Netanyahu received in the submarine affair is an ongoing gift. "He received a sum close to NIS 25 million, and the ombudsman does not see the gift. Do not believe it. I very much hope that the judges saw the return, and that we can celebrate conditional orders in the stock and submarine case next week."
The demonstrators are protesting against Netanyahu's continued tenure at the same time as being charged with a crime, claiming, among other things, that he cannot separate his personal and legal good from his political decisions. The prime minister is charged with three counts.
