The police released a few details about the case, according to which the Lahav 433 investigation unit was being investigated on suspicion of committing offenses of integrity in connection with the appointment of judges. In this context, a suspicion of sexual bribery was investigated. Against this backdrop, detectives raided the offices of the Israel Bar Association. At the entrance to the office, citizens were prevented from entering and explained: "At the moment we have no activity."
According to the police's announcement, the investigation was opened following information received two weeks ago and raised suspicions of offenses relating to the appointment of a female justice a few years ago, and in connection with an attempt to appoint a magistrate to the district - not before.
The investigation began with information received by the police, and subsequently the investigators received numerous phone calls that raised the suspicion of sexual bribery and other matters, including damage to integrity in other ways and matters related to the Bar Association.
According to senior judicial officials, the committee's members included Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Supreme Court President Esther Animals - will be summoned to testify.
Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has ruled himself out of the affair because of his familiarity with the main suspect.
