The Ministry of Health estimated that the next wave of the Corona is expected to be in October, the Tishrei holidays. This, following the increase recorded in the infection coefficient which stood at 1.05 - indicates an epidemic spreading. "We don't know if this is the beginning of a wave or a hump," said the corona projector, Professor Salman Zarqa. "I hope that at the end of this winter we will be able to treat Corona like the seasonal flu if a new variant does not arrive."
The Ministry of Health is preparing for a combined wave of corona and flu during the holidays, which will lead to many hospitalizations. From the middle of October, there will be an option for a combined flu and corona vaccine, and there will also be an option for a fifth vaccine for the virus. At the same time, it will be possible to purchase a home antigen test, which will be able to identify whether it is corona, flu - or both.
After a month and a half in which the infection coefficient was lower than 1, in the last few days it climbs and reaches 1.05. Yesterday 1,085 people were diagnosed positive for the virus - a 7.5% increase in those confirmed from last week. The condition of one hundred patients was defined as severe and the rate of positive tests was 11.94%.
There are still quite a few people living among us, these could be the grandparents, the elderly parents, or even the elderly neighbor next door, for whom the corona virus is alive and kicking. For whom the corona virus is still a real threat, especially now that the winter period is starting, which brings with it the usual effects and viruses, which we face every winter, and now the danger for them is twofold.
All health insurance companies now have updated vaccines for corona, which also provide protection against the elusive Omicron strain, and of course also vaccines against the flu every year. We have the right, which is also a duty, to take care of the aforementioned populations, so that they are properly protected against the corona virus and the other viruses that winter brings with it.
And on a personal note, I want to turn to you, the doctors who do sacred work every day, hour by hour, as you led in the most difficult times, in an inspiring way and with dedication, the heroic fight against the corona virus, so even now you should continue to lead the advocacy on the issue as well. I appeal in particular to the dedicated family doctors, who meet the sick public with the highest frequency, please let them know about the availability of the vaccine and the great importance of taking it, in order to advance medicine for the sake of the risk groups and the elderly, who will be able to get through the winter in peace.
