IBM Israel fires dozens of employees at its development center in Tel Aviv

Posted on May 23, 2019 by Ifi Reporter

IBM Israel fires dozens of employees at its development center in Tel Aviv. The move is part of a reorganization of the company's storage products.
As part of the move, IBM is making changes and adjustments in the storage division's portfolio of products, opening and closing departments, as well as working staff among laboratories. IBM's storage activity in Israel is spread over five floors in the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv. The company operates three more development centers: Haifa, where the Blockkin and Quantum operations are concentrated, in Be'er Sheva, cyber activity and in Givatayim.
"IBM's storage product has not been canceled, remains available for our customers and will continue to be supported for many years ahead," said IBM Israel IBM spokesman Eyal Goldman, adding: "We continue to reorganize our teams to suit our focus on high- IT.
"At the same time, we continue to actively recruit employees in new and significant fields that provide value for our customers and for the entire company."
IBM's storage activity in Israel is based on one of the great exits at the time of Moshe Yanai's storage company XIV. The company was acquired for $ 300 million. With the acquisition, the company integrated into the IBM Systems and Technologies Group and continued to operate from Israel. XIV was founded in 2003 by graduates of the 14th Talpiot project in the IDF.
