The number of engineering students topped the number of social science students in the past school year, according to data published by the Council for Higher Education. At the beginning of the decade there was a high demand for law studies and business administration, but it has declined in recent years. The number of law students dropped from 16,500 to 13.2 thousand within six years. At the same time, the number of students in business administration dropped from 22,600 to 18,400. The number of students in Humanities, Art and Design also dropped by 2,000, from 19,000 to 17,000.
